IBM will celebrate its 100 birthday anniversary June 16,2011. As part of the celebration IBM is offering technology grants to organizations where IBM retired employees are involved donating their time. IBM is working with Poinciana Residents For Smart Change to offer these grants to qualifying community organizations.
After meeting with Orbi Rosario of Goodwill Industries to discuss the summer teen program being offered through support of APV at the Poinciana Community Center, IBM was able to partner with Dr. David Ray, Provost, Angley College in Sanford (Seminole County, Florida) to provide a combination of two Lenovo G555 Laptop Computers and Six IBM Solution Offerings as grants to the Poinciana Summer Teen Camp being run by Goodwill Industries.
In addition to the two laptop computers the IBM Solutions selected by Goodwill to be offered to the camp attendees include the following:
Cool Games, real careers
Discover your roots
Introduction to Web Design
Science Experiments
Teach Kids Freshwater protection
Work readiness for youth
These grants were presented to Goodwill industries on June 14, 2011 in order to be used as appropriate during their summer camp program running between June 20,2011 and July 29, 2011. This program is offered at no charge to a limited number of teenagers from the Poinciana area ages 12 to 17 years.
