When complete, the tower will house an additional 64 state-of-the-art private rooms. Twelve of these rooms will be designated for Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients; 20 will be for patients needing an intermediate level of care; and 34 will be designated for Medical/Surgical patients, bringing Osceola Regional’s total bed count to 321. The ambitious undertaking adds 107,000 square feet of new space and 20,000 square feet of renovated space to the hospital’s existing footprint. Currently in the design phase, construction is expected to begin the summer of 2011 and to be completed by the first quarter of 2013. The tower will be built on the east side of the hospital campus, on property owned by Osceola Regional. Plans also call for expansion of the hospital’s existing power plant and the addition of a two-story parking garage to create 250 additional spaces, to support this major expansion. "Our new tower is being designed to accommodate future vertical expansion. Ultimately, we will add two more floors and another 68 additional private patient rooms to our main hospital campus," said Kathryn Gillette, CEO. Mrs. Gillette, who recently took the helm at Osceola Regional, added, "Osceola County, Kissimmee and Central Florida will continue to grow. It’s imperative that we anticipate this growth and the corresponding need for health care. We see our commitment to the new patient services tower as an investment in the health of our community." Osceola Regional anticipates spending nearly $6 million on technology and medical equipment to outfit the tower. The expansion will also create about 125 new jobs. ### About Osceola Regional Medical Center: Osceola Regional Medical Center is a state-of-the-art hospital offering services which include: a 24-hour Emergency Department; 24-hour Obstetrician (OB) Coverage/Baby Suites Maternity Unit; Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; Pediatrics; Accredited Chest Pain Center; Certified Primary Stroke Center; Orthopedic and Spine Center; Wound Healing Center; Kissimmee Physical Therapy Center; complete diagnostic, imaging and testing services at the Osceola Imaging and the Breast Care Center. FRIENDS OF THE POINCIANA HOSPITAL Fernando Valverde, Founder Annette Brown-Best, Co-Founder NEWS RELEASE January 9, 2011 MEDICAL ARTS BUILDING UPDATE
Happy New Year! Poinciana. On December 22, 2010 the sign was erected announcing the Future site for the Medical Arts Building". It is located on the SITE which is next to Wachovia Bank on Cypress Parkway. There have been comments on the location and size of this sign. Osceola County and the Association of Poinciana Villages have guidelines which must be met as to the size/height and location on the site. These parameters were approved by both Osceola County and the Association of Poinciana Villages. The Medical Office Building will be a stand-alone facility. The land underlying the building will be contiguous to the Hospital parcel but the actual physical buildings will be separated by parking, landscaping and walkways. The tenancy of the building will be open to all physicians in good standing irrespective of modalities or specialties. To that end, primary care physicians (general, OBGYN, pediatrics) are most welcomed, according to the developer Optimal Outcomes, LLC.
Optimal Outcomes stated that, in speaking with their engineer, the permitting process required will entail five months. This cannot necessarily be expedited as some of the permits are contingent upon others and some are mandated by Federal government rather than local government. They are contemplating (looking at) June ground breaking at present with 10 month construction time frame (approximately April 2012). Optimal Outcomes further stated they are doing everything possible to accelerate the schedule.
FOPH will continue to follow the progress of the construction of both the Medical Arts Building and the Medical Center (Hospital) and inform you as information is given to us. IN ADDITION: On January 6, 2011, FOPH and ORMC Volunteers met with Osceola Regional Medical Center to discuss "Improving Patient Experience Through Patient - Centered Care" basically to let us know what they are doing and find out what the residents of Poinciana expect going forward to improve the Patient Experience. We have suggested that there be a Community Meeting so that this information can be given to our residents as well as get community input. FOPH is waiting to hear when the General Contractor has been selected by the developer of the Medical Arts Building in order that the developer and General Contractor may also attend this meeting. FOPH will inform the Poinciana Community when that meeting will be held. ##### FOPH will put new information on the Poinciana Digital Village website www.poincianadv.com, and Poinciana For Smart Change website as well as publish in the Poinciana Pioneer (monthly newspaper). Those residents on the FOPH Database will get information immediately. To get on the FOPH Database just send an email to Annette Brown-Best, abrownabbrown@yahoo.com and indicate the Village you live in.
