Poinciana 2010 Census Data

The 2010 Census was tabulated using multiple 'census tracts' that make up the community know as Poinciana.

Poinciana was defined for purposes of the Census as a Census Designated Place (CDP) consisting of multiple defined census tracts. Of course there are multiple other ways to define the boundaries of the Poinciana community as well. The most common term is those areas defined as the 10 Poinciana Villages. While closely matching up with the CDP defined census tracts there is not an identical boundary definition. There is also a definition used called the Poinciana Planned Urban Development (PUD) which was the original boundaries defined for Poinciana when it was first created by the Florida Legislature. These boundaries include communities not part of the APV such as Crescent Lakes, Cypress Cove and several others. We will try to identify the results obtained from all census tracts attempting to identify which tracts are included with each definition of Poinciana.
Poinciana CDP (Census Designated Place)
The Poinciana CDP consists of residential communities in both Polk and Osceola Counties. The census tracts used for each county pretty much correspond to the boundaries of the 10 APV Villages.
The 2010 census population for the Poinciana CDP is listed as 53,193 persons which represents a growth in population since the 2000 Census of 289.78%.
The 53,193 Population of the Poinciana CDP would make it the second largest community by population in either Polk or Osceola county.
